A girl

In five incredibly long days I have come to better understand the power of a little girl. Especially when that little girls is my own. I have always loved babies and the joy they bring into the world. I'm what you might call an in the closet baby lover. Little boys are fun but, there is just something about a little girl. My little girl has already wrapped me around her little finger. I am honored to be blessed and entrusted with this precious little girl. I am scared to death and not quite sure how this whole thing is going to go down but, I know I will do pretty much anything to make her happy. May God have mercy on anyone who crosses her or mistreats her because they will be in a bad way if I get a hold of them. I'll be expecting lots of advice from those who have gone before me in the matter of raising a girl. Holy crap, a girl.

The Great Debate

With the world in complete chaos at the moment, ie; economic crisis, wars and rumors of wars, pirates, and moral fithiness abounding, I thought it would be a good time to talk about one of the oldest and contentionus debates. It is a debate that has torn good families apart and caused great heart ache to many. I'm talking about the conflict of Coke vs. Pepsi. The red and white can, or the red and blue can. Which one is America's cola? I feel that I can be a just moderator in this debate, due to my unbiased opinion of both drinks. My upbringing is deeply rooted in the love of both bevarages. Let me share a little family cola history. My Mom was raised on the east side of Cedar city in a place known as "dog town". Her monther was a staunch coke drinker and raised my mother as the same. Her Father was into the harder drink, Mountain dew. I must admit this is something that I also enjoy from time to time. My Grandpa's sister was also a staunch coke drinker, so staunch that she was buried with a bottle at her side at 93 yrs of age. (that is the honest truth.) Some attribute her longevity to her love of the brown elixr. *
My Father was raised in Cedar valley as a "valley rat" his Mother and Father her very staunch Pepsi drinkers. My dad made the "choice of a new generation" as well, though he gave up the cravings for pop in his early thirties. He rarely indulges in carbonated drinks now.
As you can see my upbringing was split between the two great sodas. I can honestly say that I enjoy them both equally and , feel that each one has its place. I like to think of them as fine wines, each one can be paired with a certain food to bring out its true flavors. But I will leave that discussion for another post. In closing ask yourself what side am I on? Once you know stand firm in your choice and enjoy. Dont be afraid to drink water in protest of a restaraunt not having your prefered drink. If your neutral like me, find joy in knowing that they will always have the one you like. Untill next time, drink on.

ONE HIT WONDERS

Do you ever take the time to sit back and think about all of the one hit wonders during your lifetime? I do. The world often thinks of these songs as lame, and overplayed. Deep down inside you cant let go of those songs that are so dear to you. I mean can you really overplay song 2 by blur. You know the song that say Wooo whoo! over and over again. What about tubthumping by Chumbawumba? Is that song really lame? We're often told to not worry about what the world thinks so, I say to you turn up that Ice, Ice, baby. Crank that whoop there it is. Relax and let Frankie goes to Hollywood echo through the canyons. Never be afraid to admit that those songs are important to you. Shake Shake your rump! I would love to hear some of your favorite one hit wonders. Let the comments fly.

SICKNESS

Why do we have to get sick. I hate being sick. Being sick is so annoying. Most times that a person is sick, its not deathly ill, its annoyingly ill. You know, like a annoying sore throat, a annoying runny nose, an annoying pink eye (wink, wink, or maybe not). Its a terrible thing that we as human beings have to deal with. I also get annoyed by medicine. Usually it just masks the symptoms and, lulls you into a false sense of well being; then you come down off the syrupy high you've been enjoying and BAMM! back to being annoyed. Better living through chemistry is awesome untill the robtusin ride comes to a halt. The thing that we have to look forward to through all of this is the two principles of Hope and Change. Barrack and roll. Not.
